Heya, I’m Geech Sorensen, an indie rockist troubadour based in Berkeley, CA. I merge the sounds of late 70s punk-adjacents and self-conscious singer/songwriters.
Except for the occasional guest, I’m a one-man band - I write the songs, play the instruments and do the singing. As part of my previous group, Capital City, and now solo, my sound has been compared to Wilco, Elvis Costello, Death Cab for Cutie, Syd Barrett and REM. I tell stories trying to carve some hope out of an absurdly hard stone. Jangly guitars. Witty, literate lyrics. Warm, honest vocals. Mostly acoustic based, but not always. It’s been called introspective, vulnerable and bittersweet. And not without a sense of humor.
Let me send you this song I’m really proud of - Is This Real Life. Larry Crane (Elliott Smith, Sleater-Kinney, The Decemberists) mixed it. In it I guide a friend through the recesses of his sleeping mind, trying to help him understand what he sees and feels as the real world. Maybe it will help clear your mind, too.
Along with the song itself, I’ll send you liner notes, artwork, stories behind the song, a stripped down, unreleased acoustic version, handwritten lyrics and accompanying videos. And another couple of songs, too, for good measure.
On top of all this, going forward - You’ll get early access as I release new songs and videos, including my upcoming debut solo EP. And unreleased stuff too, all with behind the scenes nuggets and stories.
Now what? Let's connect! Just click here (or the button below) and tell me where to send you the goodies.

“Geech Sorensen’s unique and emotive vocals have subliminal stylistic references to great singers of the ‘60s and ‘70s”
